After reinstalling Windows, a user account folder may be rendered inaccessible. There are many other factors which may cause this problem, like viruses. Whatever the reason, if you do not have access to your own folders, NTFS Access will help you with this issue. It will override the folders' access permissions and it will set a new owner for it. The software is very easy to use and it works fast.

The whole software is only one .exe file, which weighs in at 60 Kb. It can be found in a ZIP file, which you need to download. You can run it on Windows XP and Win 7 platforms and other versions as well.

You can target any folder on the hard drive by using the Browse option on the interface. Before starting the main process, it is recommended that you tick the two options, placed on the same window. These will set a new owner for the folder and grant you full access rights. These options are selected by default, so you can click the Grant button in the lower left corner of the interface, right after specifying a folder.

The process is almost instantaneous, so you will not be kept waiting for too long, after clicking the Grant button. When the software is done, you can go ahead and access the folder like any other one on your hard drive. NTFS Access will set the permissions recursively. This means that you will not have to repeat this action each time you want to access a folder.

Pros

The interface is very simple, but the software itself is effective. It will grant you access to a folder immediately, without having to wait for a progress bar to fill up.

Cons

The two check boxes on the interface are a bit pointless because you will always want them ticked. If you have lost access to a folder, you can regain it with NTFS Access by interacting with only a few options.
